How to Calculate Metal & Steel Weight?
Whether you are working in fabrication, manufacturing, or purchasing raw materials for construction, knowing the exact weight of metals is crucial. Our raw material calculator uses standard industry formulas based on the volume and density of the metal.
MS Plate Weight Formula
Formula: Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × 7.85 = Weight in Kg
Example: A 1m x 1m MS sheet with 10mm thickness weighs exactly 78.5 Kg.
Pipe / Ring Weight Formula
Formula: (Outer Diameter - Wall Thickness) × Wall Thickness × 0.02466 × Length (m) = Weight in Kg (for Steel).
Standard Metal Densities
| Material | Density (g/cm³) |
|---|---|
| Mild Steel (Iron) | 7.85 |
| Stainless Steel (304) | 7.93 |
| Aluminum | 2.70 |
| Copper | 8.96 |
| Brass | 8.50 |
